Winn-Dixie’s new taproom, appropriately called WD’s Taproom will offer $2 pints from local brewers .
A Winn-Dixie store in Neptune Beach, Fla., about a half-hour east of Jacksonville, is getting a boozy new addition inside its store: A taproom, appropriately monikered WD’s Taproom.
According to a press release by Southeastern Grocers, Winn-Dixie’s parent company, the add-on will offer $2 pints from local brewers and more popular brands, too. The taproom will be pouring beers from Atlantic Beach Brewing Company (Pompano Beach), Bold City Brewery (Jacksonville), Intuition Ale Works (Jacksonville), and Cigar City Brewing (Tampa), among others.
Don’t worry, wine lovers. There will be 12 types of wine for you to sip on, ranging from red to white to sparkling. C’est magnifique!
The new taproom will also offer subs, ribs, pizza and wings. All of a sudden, everyone will be OK with supermarket shopping.
Whether or not this concept will expand to other Winn-Dixie stores is yet to be seen. According to Shawn Sloan, Winn-Dixie Regional Vice President, North Florida Region, they’ll wait for customers to “give us their feedback so we can consider expanding this concept to other stores and markets in the future.”
In the past few years, we’ve seen supermarkets trying to enhance the shopping experience. Whole Foods, for example, has restaurants and bars located inside their stores in locations around the country.
Winn-Dixie operates supermarkets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
