Leesburg Regional opens new emergency department

by DeVore Design, October 13, 2018
Leesburg Regional Medical Center opened today its new emergency department, featuring 24 new patient beds, new equipment and a larger lobby.

The $27-million-expansion increases the hospital’s ER capacity for the first time in 50 years.

More than 47,000 people visit Leesburg Regional’s ER each year and that number is growing because of population growth, according to the hospital.

“Increasing our emergency department capacity not only serves the needs of our community, but also builds on our promise to provide quality healthcare in a modern environment that promotes healing and restoration,” said Don Henderson, president and CEO of Central Florida Health, the not-for-profit parent organization for Leesburg Regional.

The new ER entrance is on Lake Street.

The hospital is also expanding the ER parking lot, construction of which is expected to finish by November.
