12 Lake schools recognized as Five Star Schools by state

by DeVore Design, September 25, 2016

High fives all around for 12 Lake schools.

The schools have been named Five Star Schools by the state Department of Education, honored for using community involvement to help students succeed. The Educational Foundation of Lake County will recognize the schools at Monday’s School Board meeting.

The award was created by the state education commissioner’s Community Involvement Council to give a shout out to schools each year that demonstrate top-notch performance in community/business partnerships, family involvement, volunteer efforts, student community service and school advisory council.

Shools must also earn a grade of “C” or above, or school-improvement rating of “maintaining or improving” for the year of nomination.

The schools are Clermont Elementary, Eustis Heights Elementary, Fruitland Park Elementary, Groveland Elementary, Imagine Schools at South Lake, Lost Lake Elementary, Pine Ridge Elementary, Round Lake Elementary, Sawgrass Bay Elementary, Seminole Springs Elementary, Sorrento Elementary and Triangle Elementary.
